What is?
The L Concerts are the responsibility of Estalagem da Ponta do Sol and, recently, a strategic partnership was made with Associação Retoiça to support production and others.
Concertos L is one of the most ambitious projects in the area of new national, lusophone and international music, taking place on the island of Madeira. Being a remarkable festival when it comes to the creation and education of new audiences.
There are more than 100 concerts that took place in 10 years, mostly regional and some national premieres, with many sold out shows, in which around 700 people participate (per concert).
With an extremely demanding, daring and eclectic schedule, characterized by the variety of musical genres.
With regard to access, there are no entrance fees, however there is a minimum consumption of 8 euros at the bar, without any commercial purpose. For over 10 years, the project has been the sole and exclusive responsibility of a private company, Estalagem da Ponta do Sol, with the support of Madeira Tourism in some trips and promotions, without any associated brand.
This is a project that has deeply marked the culture in Madeira and has national recognition from its peers and the press.
Where does it take place?
It takes place in the picturesque village of Ponta do Sol in the noblest garden of the Estalagem da Ponta do Sol at 80 meters high with one of the most impressive views in Madeira.
Why does it happen?
The Concertos L arise from the desire of Estalagem da Ponta do Sol to fill a very pronounced deficit in the musical cultural diversity in Madeira, thus assuming itself as a house of serious and differentiated culture with a huge educational purpose. In a marginal way, Concertos L came to present unthinkable projects for the region, in an intelligent program that merges some established names with many other emerging and alternative ones in a logic of maintaining the curiosity and musical education of its audience.
